Jonathan Lockwood returning to Oregon
SALEM, Ore.—Ahead of the upcoming legislative session, Republican communications director and political consultant Jonathan Lockwood is responding to calls to return to Oregon to participate in the upcoming 80th Legislative Session. Lockwood recently worked in Texas and went down to Broward County, Fla. to help organize activists with #StopTheSteal efforts to hold accountable disgraced elections supervisor Brenda Snipes. Lockwood worked at the Oregon Legislature from 2016 to late 2017 as a spokesman for the Senate Republicans and worked on gubernatorial campaigns, as well as others in the recent election cycle. Lockwood will be returning to Oregon in coming weeks.
Lockwood released the following statement:
“I’m looking forward to participating in the upcoming legislative session under the partisan supermajority that threatens to undermine our values, prosperity, security, health and safety. Oregonians may have voted for Democrats in more districts, in many races by stunningly small margins, but they didn’t bubble in on the ballot: partisan supermajority with a failed governor at the helm.
“The governor has failed to adequately address the lead-laced water spewing out of spigots at schools and juvenile facilities, and has failed to put an end to the Department of Human Services looking more like a Department of Human Trafficking which endangers children and allows them to be starved, abused, and even killed. The governor has also failed to adequately invest in our schools, career-technical education and veterans services as voters directed and she has blocked veterans from access to mental health care services.
“The state of the state is an abject disaster, there is a systemic crisis of leadership under decades-long total Democrat control. Cap and trade, firearms confiscation and more dangerous overreach and economically detrimental policies, will be introduced this coming session and it is Republicans’ duty to stop these policies from being passed, stand up for our principles and collaborate to offer alternative, rational solutions."
